“Everything I do is about, and in service of, words and stories,” says Jensen McRae, with her latest track ‘Wolves’ proving that mantra to be true. In a world full of so-called ‘left-pop’, McRae is subtly working her way to the top of the genre using her delicate charm, genre-shifting composition and soulful, recognisable vocal delivery. ‘Wolves’ is particularly expressive, with personal messages permeating this track (as well as everything else she writes), boldly touching on identity, race, love and depression, amongst over topics. She cites the likes of Stevie Wonder and James Taylor as influences, and her collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Rahki helps bring these to the forefront.
